E.K.

My life is on a roller coaster ride now. And it's a slow version, not the exciting fast one you see in theme parks. Sometimes it's up, sometimes down. And it's not in a fast pace one would prefer.

Workwise, I feel so stagnant. I already made my move. But it seems there is no reciprocity on "their" part. Still waiting for major changes. And it's already elections! Ganito ba lagi?

Foor the good part, I am attending a seminar somewhere. It's for journalists, but it's not ABS-CBN related. Meaning, I will be absent when that happens, since it is not connected with my work. But it will be a dream come true if it pushes through.
Hahaha, can't say details kasi baka ma jinx.

tweet na

I was lazy again to blog. I am mostly active in twitter na kasi. But I will still continue with this blog.

Anyway, life has been getting better for me compared to previous months. Well, I am still where I am, still with the same salary, with the same friends, same life etc. But I am looking, hopefully, at a bright future ahead.

Right now, I am just waiting... waiting for the response that will change my life. Oh please come to me! hehe. I have only two thoughts: I have been waiting for years, I think I can wait for a few days more. OR I have been waiting for years already, sana now na. Oh well, patience is a virtue daw. :-)

I update my twitter daily.

dreams reached?

I just did what I wanted to do for months. The quote in my previous post somehow helped me do that.

I'm now inching closer to my dreams. It will be hard, but it will be an exciting race.

Can't wait!

Videos Galore

I have been too busy and lazy to update this blog. From 5 entries last July, it went down to just 2 entries in August. I hope I can post more for September. But to compensate for my "absence" here in Blogger, I have been active in my Facebook and Multiply. I have uploading videos of my recent reports and coverages. Thanks to all those who watched. I am really happy I was given the opportunity to do all those reports. And I hope I can do more.

*for those who have not watched, check out my facebook, multiply and youtube accounts :-)

Updating...

Updates:
-I had my first out-of-town coverage last August 19, 2009. It was a great feeling, even if I only knew of the coverage just a day before. I arrived at work 4am that day for a 3-hour trip to Palayan City, Nueva Ecija. At first I thought, the cameraman and I will ride a bus, I underestimated ABS-CBN... of course, we will ride the company vehicle! hehe It was a great experience.
Check out the video.

-I recently opened a Flickr account. I came upon several pictures in my laptop and told myself that these photos ought to be preserved in a nice place :-) The pictures I posted and will be posting are pictures that are mostly not in my Facebook or Multiply accounts and are pictures that usually has no persons on it. It is organized by categories... and I will be adding more in the future.
Check this out.

The Palace

Today I had my first politics-related interview. And it sure is bigtime! I interviewed Secretary Jesus Dureza, the former Press Secretary and the current Presidential Adviser for Mindanao Affairs. At first it felt scary, cause it was my first time to interview a big political personality. And above all, the interview was held in no other than Malacanang!!!

It was my first time at the Palace, though we were not allowed to go around. Nevertheless it was an amazing experience. We were even not allowed to enter at first because my crew and I were wearing jeans-- hindi pala pwede mag maong pants. But Secretary Dureza gave us permission afterwards. Security is really strict inside the palace grounds. I felt very safe inside, knowing that President Arroyo is just nearby... hehehe.

It was such an experience. Thanks to my partner Bettina who was with me and to my cameraman and driver. Hopefully there will be a repeat. :-)

balik eskwela

As millions of students returned to school last June 1 Monday, I too returned to work that day. After 3 months in Taiwan, I thought it would feel so different to return to my desk, to my computer and to my job. But surprisingly, I felt nothing of that sort. I felt as if I left just for a week. Everything seems just the same. Or so I think. It was as if Taiwan was just a dream and Manila was reality. I just woke up from a dream, that's what I felt.

I believe I really enjoyed Taiwan, that is why I felt it was just so fast. But then again, I have to return to reality-- which if I may say so is not that bad. I thought I left work for a short time, but in truth it was 3 months. For my officemates, it was long.

Today Wednesday, I saw Maan for the first time since arriving in Manila. It was so weird seeing her. I mean, I always see her everyday in Taipei- from morning to evening. But seeing her in Manila, at the office at that, it seems weird, but good also. Everytime I see her, Taiwan keeps coming back. And no, we didn't talk in Chinese. hehehe

transition

I haven't been updating this blog in quite some time. I guess it just means nothing much happened to me. But there were so many changes at work now. It's actually a transition week for many here at the office. All of my shifts are actually changing (though I'm not yet sure where it is going). It's an adjustment period. And good thing I am leaving for Taiwan in less than 2 weeks. I am both excited and not-so-excited for my 3-month trip. I hope everything goes well (both for my trip and for work).

the e-mail

This is the good news (well, for me at least)...

I told my boss about the news and I didn't expect she would post it on our ANC yahoogroups:

"One of our young writers, Jekki Pascual, has been awarded a three-month Mandarin language scholarship in Taiwan by the Taiwan government.
Congratulations, Jekki! We expect you to be able to translate every Chinese news item for us once you get back:) "

-Glenda Gloria, ANC COO

Yup, that is the good news! I will be in Taipei this spring (March-May) through a Taiwan government grant. The program was awarded to three Filipino journalists: me from ANC, Alvin Sejera from IBC-13 and Maan Macapagal from ABS-CBN.

I will surely miss my family and friends for 3 months! And surprisingly, I think I will miss my work. I'm scared I might not be able to write news reports well when I come back... hehehe

Can't wait to be a student again!! (especially in a foreign land)!!

Whatta Nite

I still have no sleep and it's already 12 noon!!!
I had dinner with college friends at Powerplant Mall, drinks at Grilla and more drinks at Begula in Katipunan. It was a needed meeting (I guess for most of us). It was the first time I saw them after many months. It was a fun night.

What was different is actually when we hanged out at Bianca's flat. They were having a contentious debate on various issues particularly on religion and its relevance. Imagine, them debating during the wee hours of the morning all about what it means to be believers (or something like that). It was mind-boggling, but also made us all think. Though there were some things that saddened me. Actually, it still does now. I just can't write it here yet.

But anyway, it was a fun night even if we finished around 8am already!!! And as I said it was a much needed meeting for us all. And now I am at work... still without sleep. But no regrets.

Lord, hear our prayers.

*thanks Archie, Judith for the treat

Mistakes

Why is it when you make a mistake it instantly overshadows all your "non-mistakes"? How powerful is one mistake that it can actually ruin your good side? It's annoying that one notices what you did wrong and not notice what you did right.

I feel guilty and irritated right now. Guilty because admittedly I did something grave. Irritated because it's as if I make mistakes every hour... when in fact I know I do my job well.

I know this feeling will just pass.
Tomorrow, I'm gonna be ok.

12 Months Later

Today I celebrated my first year at work. Well, there was really no celebration at all. It was as normal as any day, but I don't mind. Anniversaries always make persons think of the past. Today is no different.

If you read my blog entries around September, October, November last year--- most of those entries are frustration entries about my job. Truly, my career life is not at all perfect, as some would think. But fortunately, my blogs this year related to work are more on the positive side. Thank God, my one year at work wasn't on a downtrend but on the uptrend. It would have been worst if I had a good first months but a bad present.

I am satisfied with my work, but as I always say, it's not perfect. Being in the media is something I have always wanted, but not sure if it also wants me. But I think it does now.

Happy anniv to me (hahaha)... it's not often that one reaches one year in his/her first job.

sickly

I feel so sick today... and I am at the office. I don't know why my temperature rapidly went up last night. Thank God, medyo nag stabilize this morning. But still, I am infected with colds, cough and random headaches.

Of all days, I had to be sick this week!! Yesterday I had my second TV appearance on The Explainer. At that time, I was quite sick already. Tomorrow, I will have my first coverage and on Saturday I will be going home to Bacolod. Hopefully I won't be sick by tomorrow and especially by Saturday.

By the way, thanks to the people who watched and said good things about my TV appearances... hehehe. Especially to PJ and Christa who continue to text me right after watching the 2 episodes. Sabi nila, fans ko na daw sila, hahaha. And of course, to all who commented in my previous blog entry. Thank you!

Btw, I was just proxy, so don't expect me to be the explainee every episode... :-)

So there, I'm sick and somehow happy kahit papaano.
