Solaire Manila

The first time I saw the Solaire commercial on TV, I thought it was an ad for a sunblock lotion since there's this beautiful girl being followed by a crowd under the heat of the sun. It turns out they were all going to Solaire Resort and Casino. The music by the way was a bit catchy... "ohhh this is how's it done... brighter than the sun."

Last March 16, Solaire opened, opening up the Philippines as a threat to Macau and Singapore. I went there with friends past midnight (it was actually Macrh 17 already). There were still a lot of people and almost all of the over 1,000 slot machines and casino tables were taken. My first reaction was wow! Truly the interior design was of international standard. I have been to Macau casinos, and one can compare Solaire with those casinos. I heard each chair costs around P45,000. They've really poured big money for the design of the building and  interiors. The lobby was also nice because of the beautiful chandeliers/ceiling arts. Although I wish they made the lobby a little bigger and grander. I didn't gamble since there were a lot of people and I don't have money either. I also didn't try their restos. But each resto look really nice too. But I hope they will have a Filipino restaurant in the future.

Since this is just phase 1, I also hope the phase 2 would include amenities and facilities that would cater to non-gamers, families and kids. Overall, Solaire is indeed changing the scene in the country. Hopefully the other 3 casinos that will be built at the Entertainment City will make their projects better and grander, with a Filipino touch.
