end of jobhunting

I finished my 10-day training at Coastal and I passed all 3 exams (written, hands on, oral). I was already given my own extension number, new computer, table, etc. I was welcomed well by the supervisors and the other co-workers.

Well, I declined the offer.

I chose to do what I really want. I accepted the job at ANC (ABS-CBN News Channel) as production assistant. I had my final interview at the news gathering room and I saw everyone working, typing news articles, there were a lot of reporters doing their stuff and on another side of the room a COMELEC commissioner was being interviewed... I said this is it. I felt the thrill.

I know it would be very hard, especially since the pay is not that big, but I am hoping to learn and to experience new and great things. I can't wait to start working.

Btw, LSS ako sa Hairspray! After watching the movie with Nina and Doryll at Greenbelt 3, I downloaded some songs and wala na, it's on my mind na! hehe...

"Without Love, Life is like the seasons with no summer. Without love, life is rock n roll without its drummer"

"So let go go go of the past now, say hello to the light in you heart... Hey mama welcome to the 60's"

"you cant stop the motion of the ocean, or the rain from above
you can try to stop the paradise we're dreamin of
But you cannot stop the rhythm of two hearts in love to stay
Cause you cant stop the beat! "

crossroads

i am so confused right now with regards to my career path. Recap, I am undergoing a 10-day training at Coastal Training Technologies and it will end on Tuesday. Coastal is the leader of providing training materials for US Companies. There are various topics ranging from Sexual Harassment among employees, to health care training to emergency action plan training. Mediums include DVD, VHS, Handbooks, Internet, etc. My job is to contact companies and recommend to them training programs that they could use for their employees, etc. It's not hard selling, if they don't need it, then we will not force them to buy. The people at Coastal is very friendly. I'm part of batch 26 and all of them are my friends right now. I am actually one of the youngest and one of the few fresh grads in the batch. Some of my batchmates have children already. The pay is also very good! Aside from the basic pay, you could still have commissions. Coastal is a good company- nice people, good pay, and has a nice location in Ortigas.

AND

I'm having a hard time choosing what career to take. I assume that I will have a job offer next week at ANC as production assistant. I had my interview last Thursday and the HR person said I was up for my last interview with one of the ANC Heads. The pay is way lower than Coastal, the job will be very demanding and one of my friends, who was a PA before said that you will have to work extra hard if you want to be promoted. And have I said that the job also has NO benefits for a year. It sounds so easy to decide right? Syempre mag Coastal na ako.

BUT

It's so hard for me to decide. I have always wanted to work for a News Organization way back in high school pa lang. I decided to take up Communications when I was in Sophomore year of high school. All of the schools I applied for- DLSU, UP, UST and ADMU- lahat sila Communication courses ang sinulat kong course. I really wanted to be a broadcast journalist someday and an investigative journalist as well. And the only way to reach that dream is to start from the bottom- which is a PA. The problem now is should I go with what I've always wanted or do what is practical?

My Coastal friends all told me to think about it. They told me na mag ipon muna before pursuing what you want. Practicality, choose Coastal kasi I could easily get 25k a month(and that's just a starting). But in my heart, iba ang sinisigaw (hehe, sorry for the melodramatic tone). Pero seriously, I really don't know what to do. Should I follow my heart or think about practicality muna?

Discernment needed.
Prayers needed.

after work

it was my first time to have inuman with my workmates last Saturday. And no it was not a sabado night gimmick. It was an after work drinking session... meaning it was at 6am!!! First time ko to drink at a bar with friends at 6 in the morning! I never thought a bar would be open at that time, and it was full- everyone was drinking and not eating breakfast (as people normally do every morning). Pero i had fun with them. Kakaiba lang yung experience...

first day

Just arrived from my very first day (or should I say night) of work, well technically it's just training pa lang. It's weird that I work from 9pm- 6am. I don't think I'll ever be used to this. Well, I met new friends today. I am part of batch 26 and out of 21 people in the batch, maybe only 3-4 are fresh grads. Most of the batch have work experience na before. At this time, I still have my doubts of pursuing the job after the 2-week training. We'll see na lang.

not perfect, but it will do

Remember my last entry? I didn't take the job. For many reasons, one being the low pay. So I applied to one company in Ortigas Monday afternoon (yesterday). I took the exam and had 3 interviews. By night time, I got the job.

It is not really related to my course. It is a US company that produces and sells training materials to US Companies (whether it be in DVD form, VHS, Film or Print Ad). In the US, training materials are required by law so the company really get billions of dollars. And the company only operates at night, so i also work from 9pm- 6am... hehe this will be a change of lifestyle and body clock.

Training starts every 15th of the month. For Aug 15, the slots are already filled. But they inserted me. So I already start tom!

I don't know if I made the right decision. But the pay is twice that of my last job offer. So at least, I could still have extra money for gimmicks or whatever.

it's not perfect, but it will do.

And I went to Tagaytay last Sunday with Nescy and Anton. It was truly a joyride. We were enroute to EK, when we decided to go to Tagaytay na lang. Hahaha, sobrang fun na adventure. The best part was when we went to Taal Volcano. I never thought one could go there, but we even made it to the crater. It was so beautiful! It was also my first time riding a horse, what more was that the horse was moving upwards and then downwards. One should try it. Although it is quite expensive.. but worth it.

here are some pics: (other pics nasa multipy ko):

why can't there be a perfect job?

i just came from 3 sets of interviews and 2 exams. And I got the job. Am i happy? Not quite. .

the position is Website Content Writer. Actually, I like the work. I will be writing articles for various websites about everything under the sun. Of course, it is not just simple writing. I have to do research and avoid plagiarism, etc. They say I will be assigned a topic that is different everyday. Like I can write about gambling on Monday, then write about Monacco on Tuesday and maybe write about horses on Wednesday, etc. So I get to write on all sorts of topics and learn from it everyday. Our clients are US-based companies. It is a cool job. But...

during my 3rd interview, we talked about salary. Oh no, the pay is very minimal. (as in minimum wage lang, may tax pa). She asked if the pay was ok, i just said yes... but actually I was shocked. I'm paying for my own rent and food and bills and other stuff, how can my salary pay for it all? I really don't know what to do. I'm ok with the work, but what about the pay? I really want to work already, and I can't be bum for another month. Sometimes I think sana nag call center na lang ako, I could have receieved a much higher pay.

I think I'll have to bite into this. (Imagine me turning down the offers of San Miguel and Fujitsu, their pay was a little better)
