Watching footage of the disasters in Japan is heart-breaking. Seeing collapsed buildings, water rushing towards homes, ships on land, airports submerged-- it's really sad. Hope Japan can recover like what happened in Kobe 15 years ago.
A day before the quake, it's ironic that I was with the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines. I was on a Press Tour for 3 days- traveling to Pangasinan, Benguet and Pampanga. I had dinner with Japanese Ambassador Makoto Katsura and visited various projects funded by Japan's Official Development Assistance. Basing on what I saw, truly Japan has helped the country in terms of infrastructures and other services.
