Today marks a leap in aviation history in Bacolod City. The New Bacolod-Silay International Airport opened this morning. This will surely further boost the economic growth of Bacolod City, which was recently awarded as the Most Business Friendly City in the Philippines. The old airport served the city for more than 70 years and that was the airport I grew up with until college. The photo above shows the last flight departing Bacolod on January 17, 2008. It would be the last plane ever to use the airport.
Now a new milestone begins.
The new airport is situated not in Bacolod City, but in Silay City, north of Bacolod. It is actually quite far. It would take an hour or more for us to arrive at the airport. And to think that the airport is located in an isolated area, with all the sugarcane plantation surrounding the place.
Hopefully in the future, the airport would help boost the economy in the region and it might also help create a special economic zone in the area.
These are some pictures I got from various sources of the new airport...
Can't wait to go home!!!!!!

However, my relatives say the international airport is farther away from the city.. an hour or so daw? eek! hehe but it looks great, like the international airport in cebu and manila! thumbs up for bacolod!!
ReplyDeleteyup, super layo ng airport.. nasa isolated place w/ sugarcane farms all around it.. hehehe.. but I'm sure that area will progress soon!!! Visit Bacolod !!!
ReplyDeleteHi there good day to you... I saw you posted some of my pictures that I took from the new airport... I’m ok with that but you should put a proper credit on it I was just shock I wasn't expecting that I saw the pictures in USLS Spectrum Magazine and it was credited to you instead of the people took the pictures were happen to be you posted them in your blog without asking permission to the owner of the pictures...
ReplyDeleteHi! We saw some pictures of members of the Camera Club of Negros published on the February 6, 2008 issue of SPECTRUM magazine. The owners of the photo's have not been credited, worse, you have used your blog's address, www.jekkipascual.blogspot.com as THE source of the photo's. We hope you can rectify this mistake and make known to the editors of SPECTRUM the sources of the photo's. It is unfair for the owners of the photo's.
ReplyDeleteThank You!
Nicky Ledesma
President
Camera Club of Negros
Please rectify the postings of our club's photo's in your blog by giving CREDIT to the owners of the photo. A lawyer-member of the club has suggested that the club file a legal case against you for using our photo's without our members' consent. As President, i have discouraged him to do that and have asked him that you be given time to correct the wrong. We have never charged or disallowed anyone from using our photo's for so long as the owners are credited fairly. I hope you understand.
