week at the office

This week was quite busy. There were 3 days of Senate Hearings, which I am part of the transcribing team. The first hearing was on the Hello, Garci scandal and the other 2 hearings were about the NBN-ZTE controversy. I never really like transcribing, but then I guess I have developed ways on how to improve it and enjoy it. Listening to these senate hearings actually is a learning experience. I got to learn a lot about technical stuff, legal stuff and political things. Also, I was ammused/annoyed by the many questions of our dear senators. Also this week, I was in charge of what we call the crawls. It is the "crawling words" you see on TV at the bottom part- you can see this in all news channels incuding CNN, BBC and other news programs. I checked the grammar and the content. I also checked every name that appears on TV. Example if the name of a senator or any person for that matter is spelled correctly and even the position of that person. It's actually a fun thing to do. And for some programs, I was behind the camera literally.

Of course, not all week was work.

During the last minute of the Ateneo-La Salle game last Thursday, the entire news room stopped their work and focused on the many television screens in the office. Many cheered for Ateneo (most people their at ANC are Ateneans and UP graduates). When Ateneo won, you can really hear the shouts of the people and the see some jumping and grinning. And to think that the television was just inches away from the news anchors table (pia hontiveros was shouting Go Ateneo! seconds before she goes on air). It was a fun moment. A short break from all the serious stuff we listen to day in day out.

So far, so good.
And yup, i received my very first pay too!!! (sorry ubos na)
