Fame

I'm so famous. My face is everywhere! Can't believe it!

The line above would be my line if indeed I reach the climax of fame and fortune. Hahaha. As for now, will just have to settle with a website that offers temporary fame for aspiring TV-personalities. Cool website!

I will post more in my multiply account.

How vain can you get?

SONA

It's the day of President Arroyo's 8th State of the Nation Address. In an hour, she'll be delivering her speech, already dubbed by critics as false and just a show of lies. Her allies, however, say otherwise.

And as early as a few hours ago, I was already given a copy of her speech. Never thought I would be reading her SONA even before she delivers it. But of course, I never really read it in its entirety, since I want to listen from the horse's mouth herself. I just hope she will truely address the real state of the country.

Haay, my first SONA in the newsroom. Oh well, free food time! (and of course, heavy work).

TV Debut (Longer Version)

Here's a longer version of my first TV appearance. It's still not a clear copy, but pwede na rin. I decided to post it here, instead to my Multiply account. Just a background, I was the "explainee" for the show The Explainer. My task is to mediate the 'question and answer' portion between the audience and host Manolo. I also read text messages sent by TV viewers. I have appeared in 2 episodes. I was just replacing Patricia Evangelista, who was absent during those times.

TV Debut

This is an amateur video of my first TV appearance. Captured by my sisters using a camera phone. This is the best copy I could get my hands into. I couldn't retrieve the original copy from our system files in ABS-CBN.

I'll post the others soon on Multiply.

disability

Though life right now may not be perfect, I think many good things have been happenning to me this past days. I don't want to focus on the not-great things, I just might get depressed... I'll stick more to the wonderful things... for the sake of my sanity.

Well, July 10 Thursday, I had my very first coverage. I had been planning on my story for the past weeks, yet even at the last minute I don't have any clue what topic to focus on. The general theme is PERSONS WITH DISABILITY, since the country will be celebrating the 30th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week next week.

I set an interview with an official of the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) for 10 am Thursday. I asked our Coordinator Mailah to reserve a crewcab for the coverage. On the day of the interview, there were glitches and misunderstandings, resulting to me meeting my crew at 10am sharp. In short, I'm was so late for my first coverage.

But nevertheless, the entire interview went well. We arrive at NCDA office by 10:30am. It's a good thing, the person I was to interview was still talking to some visitors. That day, I interviewed Mateo Lee, a visually-impaired Deputy Executive Director and Rolly Fernandez, a person with polio and cancer of the bones. I learned a lot that day.

Thanks to my cameraman and driver, who by the way were the crew of reporter Maricar Bautista, but since absent siya, the crew was assigned to me for the day. First time ko inside the ABS-CBN car, hehehe.

My story will be aired next week, not sure when and what shows on ANC.. I'll be in Bacolod by then, watching it with my family. Sayang lang talaga I didn't do what we call a stand-upper or me reporting a short sentence in front of the camera. Next time, promise!

sickly

I feel so sick today... and I am at the office. I don't know why my temperature rapidly went up last night. Thank God, medyo nag stabilize this morning. But still, I am infected with colds, cough and random headaches.

Of all days, I had to be sick this week!! Yesterday I had my second TV appearance on The Explainer. At that time, I was quite sick already. Tomorrow, I will have my first coverage and on Saturday I will be going home to Bacolod. Hopefully I won't be sick by tomorrow and especially by Saturday.

By the way, thanks to the people who watched and said good things about my TV appearances... hehehe. Especially to PJ and Christa who continue to text me right after watching the 2 episodes. Sabi nila, fans ko na daw sila, hahaha. And of course, to all who commented in my previous blog entry. Thank you!

Btw, I was just proxy, so don't expect me to be the explainee every episode... :-)

So there, I'm sick and somehow happy kahit papaano.

explain

My officemate Kristine Lim told me I could blog it after what happened. And that is what I will do now.

I just had my first TV debut (if you call it that way). I was tasked to become the "explainee" in the show The Explainer hosted by Manolo Quezon aired on ANC. All I had to do was to facilitate the question and answer portion between Manolo and our audience, accountancy students from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Manila. Our topic was the NATIONAL BUDGET.

And of course I will also be the one inviting viewers to text their comments... in fairness there were 2 texters... hehehe. I was really nervous since I was also tasked to interupt whenever Manolo is talking. Buti na lang there were many questions from the audience.

The National Budget, at first, I thought would be a boring topic, since it's so numerical-sounding... hehehe. But apparently, as the discussion progresses, it was actually interesting, since the budget is about our money. This is the taxes we pay and this is the money of the entire country. Of course, this is also where corruption breeds. It's always nice to learn new things.

Thanks to the people who briefed me and gave some tips, especially to Bettina Magsaysay, Aiza Lumbuan and of course to Patricia Evangelista, whom I replaced for that episode.

My first TV debut wasn't that all bad as I thought it would be.

Watch The Explainer :-)
Tuesday 6pm
Replays: Tuesday 11 pm and Saturday 10 am.
